Hitech Guide: Horizontal Injection Molding Machine Structure

Introduction

Horizontal injection molding machines are widely adopted for thermoplastic and thermoset (bakelite, BMC) production. The machine is composed of four core modules: mold‑closing system, injection system, hydraulic system and electrical control system. Its horizontal layout facilitates installation, daily operation and equipment maintenance.

1. Mold‑Closing System

This system performs mold opening and closing, and delivers clamping force to lock the mold tightly. It prevents mold separation caused by internal cavity pressure during injection, ensuring qualified molded parts.
  • Fixed Platen: Mounted on the front of machine frame, kept stationary during operation.

  • Movable Platen: Driven by hydraulic power to realize mold open‑and‑close movements.

  • Tie Bars: Connect fixed and movable platens, bear the full clamping force.

  • Mold: Contains cavity and core to shape plastic products.

  • Ejection System: Pushes finished molded products out from the mold after molding.

2. Injection System

The injection system melts and plasticizes raw material, then injects molten material into mold cavity under pressure. Parts are formed after cooling or curing inside mold.
  • Hopper: Storage container for plastic / thermoset raw pellets or powder.

  • Heater Bands: Heat the barrel to melt or plasticize input materials.

  • Screw: Conveys, compresses, plasticizes and injects molten material.

  • Injection Cylinder: Provides injection thrust to drive screw forward for material filling.

3. Hydraulic System

Supplies power for all moving machine components. It precisely controls pressure, moving speed and movement direction for mold‑closing, injection and ejection actions.

4. Electrical Control System

Governs overall machine sequence, parameter configuration, real‑time status monitoring and fault alarm functions. It guarantees safe, stable and efficient production operation.

Complete Injection Molding Working Cycle

Mold Close (Clamping) → Injection (Filling) → Packing Pressure → Cooling / Curing → Mold Open → Part Ejection → Mold Close (Clamping), one full molding cycle completed.
