Hitech’s Environmental Improvement Practices & Outcomes in Injection Molding Workshop




Introduce


In injection molding production, waste gas, wastewater, solid waste and equipment noise are core environmental pain points, which not only affect the workshop production environment but also relate to compliant production and sustainable development. Focusing on the full process of thermoplastic and thermoset bakelite injection molding, Hitech carries out special environmental improvement work, forming a complete closed loop from source optimization and process control to terminal treatment, and comprehensively improving the workshop environmental management level.


I. Waste Gas Treatment Improvement: From Unorganized Emission to Efficient Collection & Purification


Targeting VOCs, odor and dust generated in the processes of injection plasticization, mold opening and raw material crushing, we implement a combined improvement plan of "source control + precise collection + terminal purification".

In terms of source control, we optimize injection process parameters, strictly control barrel temperature and back pressure to reduce raw material thermal decomposition and volatilization; we prioritize low-precipitation raw materials and low-volatility release agents to fundamentally reduce pollutant generation. Meanwhile, umbrella-shaped gas collection hoods and soft curtain enclosures are installed at the injection nozzle and mold opening areas, and the crushing station is fully enclosed to greatly improve waste gas collection efficiency and eliminate unorganized emissions.
For terminal treatment, we build a "dry filtration + two-stage activated carbon adsorption" purification system, and add a water spray washing pretreatment for bakelite injection waste gas to effectively remove harmful gases such as phenols and formaldehyde as well as odor. The treated waste gas is discharged up to standard through a chimney above 15 meters. Meanwhile, we establish a replacement ledger for activated carbon, and the spent activated carbon is disposed of by qualified units with transfer manifests fully retained.


II. Wastewater Treatment Improvement: Realizing Recycling & Compliant Discharge


Targeting the cooling circulating water, mold cleaning wastewater and domestic sewage in the workshop, we improve the rainwater and sewage diversion system and implement classified treatment measures. The cooling circulating water is equipped with a cooling tower for closed-loop recycling, with regular removal of scale and sludge to achieve zero discharge; the mold cleaning wastewater is pretreated in a sedimentation tank and oil separation tank, then discharged into the municipal sewage pipe network up to standard; the domestic sewage is treated in a three-stage septic tank before unified discharge.

Meanwhile, we carry out anti-seepage treatment for wastewater pipelines and sewage treatment areas, and regularly test water quality indicators to ensure full-process compliance of wastewater treatment and avoid the risk of water pollution.


III. Solid Waste Management Improvement: Standardized Classification & Compliant Disposal


We establish a strict solid waste classification management system, dividing exclusive storage areas for general industrial solid waste and hazardous waste to realize zoned storage and clear ledgers. General solid waste such as plastic sprues, runners and defective products are collected airtightly, crushed and reused in production to realize resource recycling; hazardous waste such as spent activated carbon, waste oil and oil-contaminated rags are stored in an anti-seepage, rainproof and closed hazardous waste temporary storage room with exclusive hazard labels, and regularly transferred to qualified units for disposal with full retention of transfer records.


IV. Noise Control Improvement: Optimizing Equipment Layout & Noise Reduction Management


Targeting noise generated by equipment such as injection molding machines, crushers and cooling towers, we adopt multiple noise reduction measures: high-noise equipment is placed in independent closed noise reduction rooms with sound insulation doors and windows; shock absorption pads are installed at the bottom of equipment to reduce vibration transmission; silencers are installed on fan and air compressor pipelines to reduce noise propagation. Meanwhile, we reasonably arrange production schedules to avoid high-noise operations at night, effectively improving the workshop production environment and reducing the impact of noise on the surrounding area.


V. Long-Term Management Mechanism: Consolidating Improvement Outcomes


To ensure the long-term implementation of environmental improvement outcomes, we establish a operation and maintenance ledger for environmental protection equipment, regularly inspect and maintain facilities such as waste gas treatment and wastewater treatment equipment to ensure the normal operation of environmental protection equipment during production; we regularly carry out environmental protection training for employees, standardize operation procedures and strengthen the environmental awareness of all staff; we continuously optimize processes and equipment, promote source reduction, and gradually realize green production upgrading.


Summary of Improvement Outcomes


Through full-process environmental improvement, Hitech’s injection molding workshop realizes full-dimensional compliant control of waste gas, wastewater, solid waste and noise, with a 100% compliance rate of pollutant discharge. The workshop production environment has been significantly improved, while resource recycling is realized and environmental compliance risks are reduced.
